Venue Suggestions for Startup Camp 2007

The North York Civic Centre has several rooms which are available for non-profit groups. Even the council chambers are available, and there are several meeting rooms as well. It is close to the subway, the 401, and has ample parking. There is no cost. One disadvantage is that there is no internet connectivity.
Jay: I think net connectivity is essential. Maybe before we get into venue suggestions, we could build out a list of what we're looking for? Here's a start:
- Plentiful wireless bandwidth based on number of attendees
- Lots of power plugs
- Breakout rooms (with doors?)
- Projectors
- Easy access from transit and parking
- Whiteboards
- Refreshments
Rob: agreed, wireless is vital. I suppose MaRS is a possibility, we'll have to see. A new rent-an-office type operation is about to launch in Toronto, and they may be suitable - I know the owners and they may be interested in sponsoring. They are putting in wireless. I've added Whiteboards to your list. We can always bring our own if needs be.
Albert: What are your thoughts on Microsoft offering their conference center in Mississauga...at no cost!
JVRudnick: What about maybe somewhere like the new IndoorPlayground.com site? Big press lately and what at least in pix, appears to be quite the spot? maybe (sorry marketing background rears it's head here) there could be some kind of barter worked out tween StartupCamp and them re:exposure etc.???
Noel: Added refreshments to the list.
